Only half of my RAM shows up

Hi,
       I have an MSI z97 gaming 5 motherboard, it can support a maximum of 32 GB of RAM, in the PC I have 2 16gb EVGA DDR3 RAM sticks. When I have both of the RAM sticks installed it shows only 16gb RAM. if I would take one out it would show only 8 GB RAM. I am running windows 10 pro.

Why is this happening?
Please help.
